Cerakote® is a Polymer-Ceramic Composite coating that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. The unique formulation used for Cerakote® ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. Each of these properties is rigorously tested to guarantee that Cerakote® products remain at the forefront of the ceramic coatings market. Cerakote® ceramic coatings utilize state-of-the-art technology to out-perform any competitive coating in both laboratory settings and real world applications.
The process involves complete disassembly of your firearm or other project – detailed strip. All parts are then acetone soaked for 20-30 minutes and hung to allow parts to air dry. Polymer or plastic parts are not soaked and are thoroughly wiped/degreased to avoid damaging the parts. The next process involves media blasting to ensure proper surface adhesion. Parts are plugged or masked where media blasting is not wanted and placed into the blast cabinet at varying pressures depending on the material type. High tolerance areas are not blasted or coated. All parts are then racked accordingly. After racking, all parts are baked (Gas Out) for 60 minutes – this gassing out process will evaporate any remaining moisture and solvents and bring any remaining oils to the surface. This process may be repeated as necessary. All parts are then hung to allow cooling and the coating process begins. All parts are coated utilizing an HVLP sprayer or Air Brush at a thickness of 0.0005” – 0.001”. Once are parts are coated they are hung for about 15 minutes and then placed into the oven for final curing 1-2 hours depending on the material. Once the baking is complete, all parts are hung to allow cooling and once cooled, all parts are then reassembled for the complete project. All parts receiving stencil graphics or multiple colors require additional steps to Flash Cure (oven bake) for about 8 minutes after the initial base color and with each color applied. Once all colors or techniques are applied, the parts return to the oven for the final curing as noted above.

Please Contact Us and let us know your specific application needs and we can provide a more specific time for completion.
Yes, if not already completed at the time of drop off. All firearms and parts will need to be completely disassembled prior to the coating process. This includes all pins, screws, springs, internal components, sights, etc. You can perform this yourself or have us strip down your firearm for an additional fee noted in our pricing guide.
Cerakote® is the most durable sprayed on coating in the market today. Normal wear will occur in high friction areas, but will last if taken care of and not abused. Several firearm manufacturers utilize Cerakote® from the factory including Sig Sauer and LWRC to name a few. We cannot provide the durability response any better than direct testing performed by NIC Cerakote®. Please click the Cerakote® Testing link for more detailed information with all related videos.
